The Grandview Trail is located at Grandview Point, approximately 12 miles east of Grand Canyon Village. At the end of the trail, near Horseshoe Mesa, there is evidence of mining operations from the 1800's — rusty cans, nails, tools and structures, protected as archeological resources.

The trail itself is not maintained and has no water facilities. At the beginning of the trail there are loose rocks on the ground and steep, tight switchbacks. There is shade on the trail for the first mile and a half, but then it's mostly direct sunlight. While this is a great trail to hike, it is not recommended for inexperienced hikers. The National Park Service warns of the dangers of hiking the Grandview Trail during the winter months, when snow and ice cover the trail.

Stay away from the Grandview Mine and the waste rock adjacent to the mine — this area has elevated levels of uranium. The mine shafts contain radon gas and radioactive particles.

Elevation

The Grandview Trail has a maximum elevation of 7,400 ft., a minimum elevation of 4,878 ft. and an elevation range of 2,522 ft.
