Montana De Oro State Park dedicated in 1965 is one of the largest state parks in California; it is located in close proximity to Morro Bay and Los Osos along the beautiful central coast of San Luis Obispo County. This popular park, rich in native plants and animals has a rich cultural history based in the ancient Native American Chumash Indians that lived here for centuries, whose archeological remains are still evident. The terrain varies from rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, canyons and hills that lends itself to hiking trails, backpackers, biking, equestrian trails and camping. Visit Spooner's Cove, a well-known beach in the park, bird-watch, hike Valencia Peak, watch for deer and other wildlife or sit back and enjoy the seclusion of this magnificent coastal setting.
