Oceano Dunes SVRA Oceano Dunes SVRA is a wildlife haven for a variety of animals and birds, fish, plants and insects. A raccoon will look to see who is visiting. A duck might alert his cousins. These are just some of the sights and sounds you might experience during your visit.
Oceano Dunes is a beautiful place. The trails are maintained over water and sand - and they're wheelchair accessible. The footbridge and connecting boardwalk that make this an accessible place was constructed to protect the surrounding dunes and wetlands and to provide improved beach access. Funds for the project were provided by the California State Coastal Conservancy and the Nature Conservancy. The California Conservation Corps constructed the boardwalk. The design, engineering, and labor to complete the footbridge portion of the trail were provided entirely by volunteers. A result of the improved coastal access is that there's less damage to the dunes by humans. This in turn allows the Snowy Plover to use the area for it's nesting. A section of the dunes are closed during March 1st through September 30th to allow the birds to nest undisturbed.
Dogs are not allowed on the trails. The park closes at 6:00 PM. Arrive early and enjoy!
