Climbing the Cliffs Durlston Country Park
The location of Durlston Country Park can be found at "Trail 5" on the map of Swanage. From this page you can access photographs of the nearby lighthouse and quarry.
THE FOLLOWING ADVICE IS PROVIDED FOR YOUR SAFETY
- Some abseil stakes are old so check before use.
- Many finishes have loose rock, the use of helmets is strongly recommended.
- Leave an abseil rope in place as a means of retreat.
- Place runners carefully and effectively.
- As the area is known for freak waves you should belay at the bottom of the climbs.
IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT, DO NOT CLIMB
- In case of an accident, use the emergency telephone at the lighthouse. Dial 999 and ask for the coastguard, stating the name of the climb and area of cliff.
- Leaders of organised climbing groups should report to the park centre where climbing guides, time tides, weather conditions, and other relevant information is usually available.
THESE CLIFFS ARE DANGEROUS. PERSONS WHO CLIMB THEM OR GO NEAR THEM MUST ACCEPT RISKS OF INJURY TO THEMSELVES AND OTHERS
