The Ellsworth Loop Trail is a short hike located within one of the less populated hiking areas of the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park; this quiet rainforest trail is surrounded by old growth Redwoods, ferns and fallen giant Redwood trees. Although the trail is relatively short, it has many steep sections; take a moment to rest on one of the many benches carved out of fallen logs along the route of this captivating dense forest. A section of the Leiffer Loop trail must be hiked to gain access to the Ellsworth Loop Trail. November through March is the rainy season for the Redwoods; the Leiffer Loop Trail can become waterlogged during this time; non slip, waterproof footwear is highly recommended.
